Prayer Service for School Reopening

As we return refreshed after our summer holidays, we come together in gratitude and faith. This prayer service for school reopening invites God’s presence into our school as we begin a new academic year. It is also a joyful occasion as we warmly welcome our new Class XI students and new Sisters who will guide us with their presence and prayers.

Opening Hymn: “Come Holy Spirit, We Need You”
Let us invite the Holy Spirit to bless our hearts and minds as we enter this new beginning.

Leader:
Gracious and Loving God,
We stand before You at the dawn of a new school year. Thank You for the gift of rest and the joy of reunion. Today, we ask for Your blessings on our school, our students, our teachers, and especially on the new members of our community — the Class XI students and the Sisters who have joined us. May this academic year be filled with wisdom, kindness, and growth. Amen.

First Bible Reading and Reflection: Reading: Ecclesiastes 3:1
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”.
Reflection:
The beginning of a new academic year is a new season in our lives. It’s a time to grow, to strive, to learn, and to hope. God has made this moment possible, and He will walk with us through every challenge and celebration that lies ahead. Let us embrace this season with courage and trust in His plan.
Prayer:
Lord, as we step into this new academic session, may we find meaning in our daily work, joy in our learning, and strength in our relationships. Help us use our time wisely and purposefully, always keeping You at the center of all we do. Amen.

Second Bible Reading and Reflection: Reading: Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”.
Reflection:
This verse is a powerful reminder that we are never alone. Christ is our strength — in the classroom, on the playground, in times of difficulty, and in moments of success. For our new students and Sisters, this is also a message of encouragement: God has brought you here with a purpose, and He will strengthen you every step of the way.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, fill us with confidence and peace. Help each new student and Sister feel welcomed and supported. May this verse inspire all of us to face the year ahead with faith and determination. Amen.

Welcome Address (Optional). Given by the Principal or a senior student
“With open hearts, we welcome our new Class XI students and the Sisters into our Sophia family. May you find friendship, peace, and growth here. Together, may we learn, pray, and serve with joy and compassion.”.

Welcome Song: “We Are One in the Spirit”
This song reminds us that though we come from different backgrounds, we are united in God’s love and purpose.

Final Bible Reading and Reflection: Reading: Psalm 121:8
“The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”.
Reflection:
As we return to the rhythm of school life, we can find comfort in knowing that God watches over us — in every classroom, every journey to and from school, every exam, and every encounter. His love surrounds us constantly.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for watching over our going out and coming in. Protect us throughout the year, bless our studies, and deepen our sense of community. May our school continue to be a place of safety, learning, and spiritual growth. Amen.

Closing Hymn; “Bind Us Together, Lord”
Let this hymn be our prayer — that we may always be united in God’s love and grace as we journey together.
